The game uses real coastlines and sampled elevation for all nine Azores islands. Distances between islands and the size of smaller islands are adjusted for sailing gameplay. Vegetation, cows and vessels are original artistic miniatures; the only built-up areas are small harbours.
Direção-Geral do Território, Carta Administrativa Oficial de Portugal 2024 (CAOP). Azores district boundaries obtained from the Pattern Institute CAOP.RAA.2024 dataset. Original projected boundaries are transformed uniformly, without stretching individual axes. Full-resolution coastline SVGs are included; game meshes simplify the source by 12 metres.
Terrain Tiles, Mapzen / Tilezen, accessed 16 September 2026 via the AWS Registry of Open Data. Global GMTED2010 and SRTM terrain data courtesy of the U.S. Geological Survey. Europe terrain data produced using Copernicus data and information funded by the European Union — EU-DEM layers. Provider attribution and terms.
Elevation is sampled from zoom-11 Terrarium tiles. Heights are artistically scaled and small harbour approaches and lake shores are adjusted for the game. This is a game, not a navigation or surveying tool.
Lake outlines: Instituto Geográfico do Exército and Secretaria Regional do Ambiente e Ação Climática / Governo dos Açores, Lagoas — Região Autónoma dos Açores, 1:25,000; CC BY 4.0. Retrieved through the IDEA INSPIRE StandingWater WFS on 16 September 2026. Polygons are projected into the game frame and slightly simplified; 45 natural water bodies are rendered. The original source GeoJSON is included in the project.
Natural character was checked against Azores Natural Parks and Azores Geopark. Flores waterfall context: Poço da Ribeira do Ferreiro and the official Poço do Bacalhau trail guide. Waterfall locations use approximate map coordinates via Ferreiro and Bacalhau, based on OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). Cascades, pools, vegetation placement and biome extents are artistic interpretations.
Original boat, stylized whale, cow, laurel, cryptomeria, juniper, fern, basalt and kelp models generated in Blender; editable Blender files and generators are included with the project. The whale is an original artistic interpretation matching the game’s selected whale illustration, with vertex-colour skin and independently animated fins and tail. Distant tree variants use Blender mesh decimation and spatial instancing. Three.js (MIT), Vite (MIT). Cormorant Garamond and DM Sans (SIL Open Font License), bundled locally.
